CrossFit had always scared me. While I knew I was pretty weak, I didn’t want to get bulky…plus lifting weights wasn’t my idea of a good time. Little did I know, CrossFit915 would convert me!
I work as a dietitian, so I’ve always eaten pretty healthfully. Exercising was a different story – I’d run or do Zumba for a few months, get bored, and quit. Weights bored me. Half the time, I wouldn’t do anything. However, my husband was coming home from a long deployment and I wanted to whip myself into shape, fast – which is where FEMMEfit came in.
My trial week was brutal; I’m not going to lie. The workouts were quick, simple, and actually kind of fun, but they made me so sore! Instead of getting discouraged, the positive energy and encouragement from the other women and the coaches made me keep going. The soreness meant it was working, right?! (It was.) Six months down the road, the soreness from a good workout feels oddly satisfying.
I chose FEMMEfit because it made the idea of CrossFit less intimidating: all women, a lot of cardio, and no huge barbells. Nobody judges me for doing pushups on my knees if I need to, or for using a lighter weight if I’m not comfortable with the one suggested. However, the class atmosphere still challenges me to push myself each day. Half the workout is mental – getting you to max out your physical limitations. My confidence has gone through the roof as a result of training my body AND brain.
This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with a workout. It’s impossible to get bored, and I love being toned and fit. I’m definitely not the strongest, quickest, or most buff person ever. However, I’m currently in the best shape of MY life, and it’s thanks to the guidance of FEMMEfit.
